Faceal Oleo - Impregnations

The newly developed Faceal Oleo impregnations are an ingenious solution for surface protection on buildings and on floors. On the basis of the newly opened technology fields in the nanometre range – one of the most significant technologies of the 21st Century – we have successfully changed the architecture of the nano-scale (the very smallest) unique structures of the active molecules of the Faceal Oleo products to produce new macroscopic functions, or, in other words, an almost perfect surface protection. We are talking here of molecules in the range of several millionths of a millimetre. Millimetre for millimetre, thousands and thousands of molecules ensure long-term dirt and graffiti protection on the outer and the inner sides (surfaces of the capillary system / the pores) of porous mineral surfaces. The molecules not only protect the surface beneath, but also their own structure, and thereby their own long-term existence. The reason for this lies in the self-organising molecules, which take up an identical alignment.

How it works:
In the Faceal Oleo technology, the surface tension of the substrate to be protected is modified in such a way that it is always lower than the surface tension of any possible contaminating liquid.

The multi-functional Faceal Oleo molecules consist of acryl copolymers with various side-chains, which fulfil various tasks. Our Faceal Oleo Stick Man” demonstrates this for us:

  • The ‚Hats’ consist of CF2 chains (fluorinated groups with strong CF3 ends). They ensure the low surface tension and thereby the protective effect.
  • The ‚Arms’ are non-ionic groups. They guarantee the alignment and the linkage of the stick-men among each other.
  • The ‚Legs’ are silane groups – they enter into a firm connection with the mineral sub-surface, and ensure a strong and permanent hold.

It is thereby ensured that the protective part of the molecule is at right angles to the surface (the pores), and that the optimal protective effect is obtained.
